Upper income limit for creamy layer to be doubled

The upper income limit for creamy layer is likely to be doubled to around Rs five lakh, a move that will expand the number of OBCs for quota benefits. National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), the recommending authority for the revised ceiling will be submitting the proposal for the same to Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar on Tuesday.

Honda to launch 800cc bike by March 2009

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) will introduce an 800cc bike by the end of this financial year, a senior executive of the company said in New Delhi on Monday while unveiling a new model. HSMI president and chief executive S. Aoyama said the 800cc bike would be one of the two models planned for launch later this year; the other could be either a bike or a scooter. These would be in addition to the Aviator scooter and the 125cc motorcycle CBF Stunner launched at the Auto Expo 2008 here Monday.

Kamal Haasan starrer Dasavatharam has overshot its Rs.1.3 billion budget and becomes the costliest Indian film to be ever made, said sources."Friday's much hyped trip of Jackie Chan to Chennai on a chartered flight had cost Rs.100 million to the producer and has added to the total cost that has now gone beyond Rs.1.4 billion, said sources close to producer "Oscar" Ravichandran."
